Convening for Inclusive Growth

At Nyhus, we especially love operating at the convergence of business, government and community. So the Seattle Metro Chamber’s annual Regional Leadership Conference is one of our favorite events of the year, as it draws leaders from all of these sectors who want to work together to strengthen our region.

Record attendance at this year’s meeting Oct. 19-21 at Suncadia Resort made for extra thought-provoking conversations. Attendees heard from – and rubbed elbows with – elected officials such as Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, King County Executive Dow Constantine, and Port of Seattle Commissioners John Creighton and Courtney Gregoire. A number of influential CEOs – including Spencer Rascoff of Zillow, Susan Desmond Hellmann of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Brad Tilden of Alaska Airlines and Dan Price of Gravity Payments – underscored their companies’ commitment to Northwest values. Dozens of other businesses, nonprofits, associations and civic-leadership groups shared their wisdom.

We firmly believe that business is an engine for a thriving community. Education surfaced as the clear priority at this year’s conference, and it’s exciting to consider what can result when all of these amazing organizations work together to inspire our youth and get our young people into pathway jobs.

The Seattle area is experiencing incredible growth and prosperity. We can all take comfort in the fact that leaders from all corners of the community just spent the better part of three days collaborating to ensure that ALL of our residents share in that.
